Telling a new story: Growing the Rural Church

I’m with 30 or so other bishops and national staff for a day thinking about how the church can thrive and grow in rural multi-church groups. It’s an impressive turnout, and a sign of hope that as we develop our strategies for the future the rural church will not be marginalised but part of our story together.

  1. Andreas Whittam Smith, reporting on the annual report of the Church Commissioners some years ago, said the one thing that gave him hope was to see parishes where hard working priests were concerned to show love to their wider communities. They were the ones that were growing.
