The Light Shines in the Darkness

As I crawled across Ely yesterday morning to prayers in the Cathedral, there was just a hint of dawn in the sky, alongside the streets lights and now darkened Christmas decorations. “Now is the year’s midnight” and I said a prayer at the Eucharist that morning for those who find the dark times difficult. But we have too our annual reminder that the darkness will not overcome us, and the unconquerable light of Christ is wth us for ever.

  1. This reminds me of how I started our Christmas letter this year:
May the Force be with You! We have just seen the new Star Wars movie – the much awaited sequel to the prequel. And personally, I think – despite all the hype – every bit as good as the original films.
The battle between the Light/Dark Side, seems a timely reminder of the Advent Season, as we think of God’s light coming into the world, and dispelling the darkness. We are grateful to look back over our past year and reflect on the many happy times we have had.
