Vexilla Regis: the MU are on the Move

I nearly lost it when the Mothers Union banners came out of the transept shadows at the end of our triennial Commissioning Service to lead us out in mission into God’s good world, Inspired for the Future. I’d told Susan our Diocesan President that I really loved them, and thought for a moment that the hunt had been missed –  but there they were, and in force! Thank you so much to all our amazing branches and banner-bearers, and … pass the hankies.

PS Vexilla Regis is Latin for The Royal Banners, as in the first line of the hymn of that name, a mediaeval one that is another favourite of mine written by the wonderfully named Venantius Fortunatus.
