Preaching and Christian Formation: A Summer School for clergy and readers – 1-4 July 2013
How can we enrich our preaching to better enable our congregations to grow in Christian faith and life? How can our preaching be formative and informative – as well as inspirational? How do we recover the essential role of teaching in our preaching?
Over this four-day course through plenary presentations, preaching practice groups, workshops and discussion we will learn how we can:
- open up Scripture to connect deeply with people’s Christian lives;
- choose language for preaching which enables Christian formation;
- prepare all-age sermons that build up the whole congregation;
- connect to an audio-visually and digitally informed culture
- preach for those new to faith and exploring faith
